NAIHANCHI FOLLIES COLLISION COURSE

I am calling this Post "The Naihanchi Follies Collision Course" Read on and you'll see what I mean.

Every now and then we Green Belts do give Sensei a good laugh. Tonight was the night. And I am sure there's bound to be more nights where we Green Belts give Sensei a smile. You have to admit we Green Belts do try our best.

After our Warm Ups the Youth were taken to the back of the Gym. That left 4 Green Belts, 6 Brown Belts, and 2 Black Belts. After fixing up our Lines we stood at "Attention Stance" and then went into Yoi as Sensei called "Naihanchi". The Green Belts did what they always do in a situation such as this, "we follow the Front Row" as best as we can. As well as we look to each other for some guidance. Only none of us are much help to each other. There was a lot of stumbling and mass looks of confusion on 4 faces tonight from the second row. Not to mention Wassim and I collided with each other last night during Naihanchi. We were either too close to one another or one of us went the wrong way. I really am not sure of that.

I did see a smile on Sensei's face and I believe I heard a faint chuckle too. As he asked which one of us knew this Kata. He did know the answer to that. Then he put us at ease and had us do Pinan Godan. I was relieved. As were my Green Belt Cohorts. I believe I heard a big sigh of relief from them.

Learning/trying a new Kata is always fun. It's not easy and we do stumble. But over time and after doing them for awhile they do get easier.
