We do have a few moments of fun and laughter in Class. We laugh at each other and at ourselves. All in good fun.
One particular night there was a funny moment. The Night Of Kushanku. The Youth were taken to the back to work on Competition Stuff. Sensei delegated a Black Belt to run through Kata with us. Him and Courtney had a little pow wow. As Sensei went to the back with the Youth and instructed them. Sempai Courtney took over the reigns and started instructing us.
"Who here doesn't know Kushanku?" He asked us. I looked around the room and noticed no hands rising. Slowly I rose mine, pointed to my Obi and said "Me, 5th Kyu, Green Belt, still in Pinan Kata Land"
To which he laughed and said "Only one of you that does not know this Kata I don't believe that, well Fran you are going to learn it tonight and anyone else that didn't raise their hands."
This Kata isn't that bad. I do know a few moves. Maybe about 1/4 of it. Not bad for someone still at 2nd Green Belt. But this is a Brown Belt Kata and I am heading to that soon so I guess I better buckle down and learn the other 3/4 of it.
